New single!

10/4/2018

0 Comments

Our new single was written for Fr. Bob Hawkins retirement in June, 2018. We are thrilled to say that we were able to record an a cappella version with Emily, Caroline, Jacob and me, even if a fair amount of it was done long-distance! The title comes from one of his most-beloved homilies, which contains this story:
A family is spending the day at a beach on a small island. The young daughter spends much of the day searching intently, while her parents happily read and enjoy the surf. At the end of the day, the girl brings them each a perfect, gem-like stone, which clearly came from somewhere else on the island. The mother exclaims, "this is so beautiful! It must have taken you all day to find it!"
The girl responds, "the search was part of the gift."

Great article in Rhode Island paper

At our (first) album release party, we were fortunate to be interviewed by Brian Fraga, a correspondent for the Rhode Island Catholic newspaper.  The article just came out today!  For those of you who do not have subscriptions, you can check it out on their website.  Brian interviewed Caroline and Emily, and did a really nice job of capturing the spirit of what we're trying to accomplish.  Please check it out!

Sunday, 10/16, we'll be having another release party for the new album.  Details are on Facebook.  We've been so fortunate, with airplay on 94HJY and some really positive reviews, but we need help getting the word out!  Please let all of your friends, relatives, acquaintances, and mortal enemies know.
There will be more shows around Rhode Island, as the air gets colder, so watch this space for details.  Thank you all so much for the support!

Don Dimuccio from Motif Magazine wrote a phenomenal review of our album this week.  Please give them many clicks!  As well as being a terrific writer, Don is the driving force behind one of our favorite roots-rock/blues bands, Black and White.  Read the review, and then buy the album!

Track #7 - Written In The Sky

Everything you say and do is known.  By whom, or what (God? The Internet?  Skynet has been self-aware for almost 20 years, Terminator fans!) is up to you.  "Live the same on the inside...Love the same on the outside" is the ideal to which we should all aspire, regardless of our beliefs (and paranoia).

Every word ever spoken is written in the sky.
Every whisper, every shout, every trust, every doubt.
Every vow ever broken is written in the sky,
Every pardon, every deal, every gift, every steal.

There is One,
There is One,
All is known.

Every prayer ever uttered is written in the sky.
Every anguish, every cheer every hope, every fear.
Every curse ever muttered is written in the sky.
Every hurt,  every miss, every hate, every kiss.

There is One,
There is One…

Live the same on the inside.
Love the same on the inside.
Live the same on the outside.
Love the same on the outside.

Every word ever spoken,
(Is written in the sky).
Every vow ever broken,
(Is written in the sky).
Every prayer ever uttered,
(Is written in the sky).
Every curse ever muttered,
(Is written in the sky).

Track #6 - Words Come To Life

8/16/2016

You can sum up this lyric in one short sentence:  "History is real".  Or maybe, "Turn off the TV and read a book".  Or possibly, "Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it".  (These are no longer short sentences).
It's good to remember that although we know far more than our ancestors, we can always learn from them.

Ancient kingdoms never fall,
Long-gone ruins still stand tall,
Forgotten prophet voices call,
Words Come To Life.

Hear the words of wiser men,
Heroes save us all again,
For that was now and this is then,
Words Come To Life.

Words Come To Life;
Words Come To Life;
Stories from so long ago are lessons for today;
Words Come To Life.

Maps will change and language die,
Stars and planets flee the sky,
Forsaken ages, hear the cry,
Words Come To Life.

Words Come To Life;
Words Come To Life;
Stories from so long ago are lessons for today;
Words Come To Life.

Raised on faith,
Fed by truth,
Like a song,
Words Come To Life.
